Association for the Progression of Bodyboarding
One obligation.
To unify and serve the sport of Bodyboarding.
Come and take part.
APB is in formation; the members who join now will shape what it becomes. Tell us a little about you.
We are APB, the Association for the Progression of Bodyboarding. Our mission is to unify and serve the sport of bodyboarding as a global governing body.
What is bodyboarding?
A wave-riding vehicle.
Bodyboarding takes place in the wave; not above the water, but connected to it. Inside the tube, on the wave face and above the lip; places where the boundaries between rider and wave merge or dissolve.
Bodyboarding was born in those spaces.
It is neither a subset nor a stepping stone, but rather a unique discipline with its own history, artistry, and culture. All which culminates in a profound relationship to the ocean.
This is what the APB is built on. It connects the sport through its many forms.
Who does the sport belong to?
The riders, all of them.
- The child catching their first wave on a foam board in the white water to a grandparent doing the same.
- A bodyboarder charging heavy water at the far edge of what's possible.
- The masters' competitor still in the heat.
- The groms in Tamarindo and Senegal.
- The legends who built us. The juniors who will carry our sport forward.
APB exists to connect all of these and more; enthusiasts, athletes, communities, federations, companies, and the broader world of wave riding. Joining with each other. Acting together.
