Our Manifesto

Association for the Progression of Bodyboarding

Our Manifesto.

We are APB. The Association for the Progression of Bodyboarding, a global body governed by one obligation: to unify and serve the sport. We have no other or higher purpose. Our founding documents guide us in that sole objective. Personal and commercial conflicts of interest are acknowledged and distanced from. Financial records and relationships are disclosed. Every decision is made with a single inquiry: is this good for bodyboarding?

We are a wave-riding vehicle, operating not above the water but connected to it; inside the tube, beneath the lip (or above it); in places where the boundaries between rider and wave dissolve or merge.

Bodyboarding was born in those spaces. It is neither a subset nor a stepping stone, but a unique discipline with its own history, its own artistry, and its own profound relationship to the ocean. That relationship, and its culture, is what APB is built on. From this origin, bodyboarding connects with the many other disciplines that make up ocean wave riding.

The sport belongs to its riders; the kid on a foam board in the shorebreak, the woman charging heavy water at the far edge of what's possible, the masters' competitor, the groms in Tamarindo and Senegal, the legends who built us and the juniors who will carry our sport forward. APB exists to connect all of these and more: federations, athletes, communities, companies, and the broader world of wave riding... finding each other, and acting together.

We are working toward the Pan-American Games 2027, toward continental and regional competitions, and toward an Olympic pathway that bodyboarding has earned.

This is a sport, organizing itself.
We belong to the sport. The sport belongs to you.
